Tom Spencer
Athlete - Student - Adventurer - Greenhorn
Originally from New Plymouth, I'm now a student at the University Of Otago studying Medicine, with a passion for endurance sport and getting outdoors.
I was originally roped into adventure racing by a group of mates in my first year at New Plymouth Boys' High School who wanted me to do a 12 hour race. I told them that was a stupid idea, yet here we are.
Since then I've never looked back, and have been hooked into the outdoors and I take every opportunity I can to discover what's out there, and push the limits on what I thought was possible.
I have been lucky enough to be in some awesome teams, without whom I certainly wouldnt be doing any of this today, namely the NPBHS/GHS Hillary Challenge team 2013/14, the Greenhorns 2016/17/18, Team Merrell 2018 and Team Mtueka 2019/2020
This page is where I'll be posting updates on training and reports on racing.
I'm currently embarking on my biggest adventure yet; I'm taking a year out from medical study to pursue the outdoors full time!
I'm off to Patagonia in February and I will stay overseas until October 2020, During this time I'll bve doing adventure racing, mountain running, and exploring the world!
Stay tuned
